WHAT YOU'LL DO
Your mission is to build a strong internal engineering team while evolving our international Webshop towards a scalable, maintainable and future-ready technical foundation that supports further market expansion.
You combine people leadership, engineering leadership and solution architecture. Working closely with other Engineering domains, you shape the future architecture of our existing platform, balance business-driven project delivery with technical improvements and champion an AI-first engineering mindset.
- Lead, coach and develop the Webshop engineering team, building strong ownership, technical excellence and a high-performance culture.
- Build sustainable internal engineering capabilities, transitioning from a predominantly external team through structured hiring, onboarding and knowledge transfer while establishing an AI-first engineering culture.
- Shape the future architecture of our international Webshop, working closely with other Engineering Team Leads and Enterprise Architecture to evolve the existing monolithic landscape towards a scalable, sustainable setup.
- Balance business-driven project delivery with technical improvements, ensuring continuous commercial development, international expansion and long-term platform health.
- Act as Solution Architect where required and develop Senior Engineers towards taking over solution architecture and broader technical ownership.
- Drive AI-first software development by introducing proven AI-assisted workflows across the engineering lifecycle, improving productivity, quality and delivery speed.
- Lead the AI transformation within your team, sharing your own experiences, inspiring engineers and embedding new ways of working into everyday engineering practices.
- Work closely with Product, Design, Enterprise Architecture and other Engineering domains to create sustainable system boundaries and shared technical foundations.
- Establish engineering excellence, security, observability and operational ownership as integral parts of how the team works.
- Use meaningful engineering KPIs and business impact to identify and drive improvements in quality, speed, reliability, scalability and cost.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Strong experience in engineering leadership, with the ability to inspire, coach and develop high-performing software engineering teams.
- Strong software engineering and solution architecture expertise, with the ability to understand complex systems, guide architectural decisions and contribute hands-on when needed.
- Strong experience with .NET Framework 4.x-based applications, including ASP.NET MVC 5 / Web API 2, and the ability to maintain and modernize business-critical legacy systems. Experience with modern .NET and migration approaches is a plus.
- Solid experience with SQL Server-based architectures, including stored procedures and performance optimization, combined with a good understanding of application hosting, caching and hybrid cloud environments.
- Proven hands-on experience with AI-first software development, including concrete examples of projects, repositories or engineering workflows you have implemented or significantly improved.
- Experience evolving business-critical monolithic systems, with the architectural judgment to identify pragmatic modernization opportunities rather than defaulting to a full rewrite.
- Strong product and business thinking, with experience balancing business-driven project delivery, technical investments and operational stability.
- Experience with international e-commerce platforms, including business-critical commerce processes, scalability and the technical challenges of supporting multiple markets.
- Clear communication and strong cross-functional collaboration, particularly with other Engineering Team Leads, Product, Business and Enterprise Architecture to shape sustainable technical solutions.
Language requirements
- English: Fluent - our working language in Engineering and cross-team collaboration.
- German: A plus, but not required.
